Malte studied economics at Hamburg University and San Francisco State University. He specializedon applied econometric methods and statistics. His particular interests are in the economics of climate change, especially in the impact of technological change on the costs of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Malte wrote hismaster’s thesis on optimal global CO2-emission abatement with a focus on the interactions of endogenous technological change andsocio-economic inertia in the energy system (download).Currently he is working on models to investigate diffusion potentials of fuel cell vehicles and problems related to the build up of a hydrogen infrastructure. He is a member of the International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling (IMPRS). Recently, he spent three month as a visiting researcher at the Department of Innovation Studies at Utrecht University.
