Nikolinka has a Master of Science in Business economics and management from International Center for advanced Mediterranean agronomic studies - Institute of Chania Greece and a Master of Agricultural economics Master of Agricultural Economics from the Academy of Economics “D. A. Tcenov “ Svishtov Bulgaria. Before joining Hamburg University, she worked in Institute of agricultural economy- Sofia Bulgaria.

Her PhD research at the Research Unit Sustainability and Global Change focuses on effect of climate change on pesticide use and their economic and environmental consequences.
